We welcome submissions of articles, letters and photos from members of the community: if you have anything to contribute to our magazine we would love to hear from you! Here are just a few ideas of what you might like to submit:

  • Local history articles
  • Anecdotes and reminiscences
  • Photographs of local places (with or without people in them!)
  • Recipes
  • Knitting patterns
  • Walk descriptions
  • Pet care articles
  • Jokes and funny stories
  • Event promotions and reviews (including community events to be listed in our What’s On guide and on this website)
  • Community group news
  • Short stories and other creative writing
  • Youth interest articles by younger contributors (remember, writing for us looks great on a UCAS form or CV!)…

…in fact, just about anything you care to send in! The Local Leader is your magazine and we want it to reflect what you want to read, so please get in touch with your articles and suggestions!

Contributions can be sent to us by email – – or they can be left at the drop-off point, Tuliptoppers Craft Store, in an envelope marked The Local Leader. Alternatively, you can send them direct to the editor at the magazine’s offices: 28 Commercial Street, Shipley, Bradford, BD18 3SP.

Deadlines can be found on the dedicated page of the website. Please keep checking that for more information.

Sending photographs

If you would like to send in photographs, we would appreciate it if these could be in a common graphic format (.jpg is the most common) and sent to us in as high a resolution and large a size as possible. If you have several photos to send and they are very large, we recommend a free service called Or you can email us and we will work something out!

If you have photographs which are not in a digital format, you can leave these at the drop-off point at Tuliptoppers Craft Store or post them to the editor at the office address. He will ensure they are returned to you after publication of the magazine in which they feature (PLEASE include the return address).

Thanks to all our lovely contributors for helping to make the magazine what it is – we couldn’t do it without you!
